Our Colorado mesh network community is a grassroots group of amateur radio operators, outdoor enthusiasts, hobbyists and locals creating a resilient, decentralized communication system using affordable hardware. No internet or cell towers needed — just people-powered nodes for staying connected in both urban and remote spots across The Centennial State.
How Does It Work?
Colorado Mesh (formerly DenverMesh) is working to set up a mesh network in Colorado. Users contribute to the network using their personal Meshtastic, MeshCore, or Reticulum devices. These radios use open-source software to communicate on the 915 MHz frequency using the LoRa protocol, and can connect to your phone via Bluetooth. Messages hop from node to node until they reach their destination, extending the reach of the network and ensuring everyone receives every message.
